A Wick man has been found guilty of assaulting a woman and leaving her permanently scarred.

David More had been on trial at the High Court in Glasgow facing three charges.

The 30-year-old was found guilty of assaulting the woman by shouting and swearing, threatening her with violence and pushing her – causing her to fall to the ground to her injury and permanent disfigurement.

The incident happened at an address in Thurso on September 14 or 15, 2016.

The jury found him guilty by majority, but accepted he had been provoked.

He was also unanimously convicted of repeatedly sending messages by phone and social media to the woman, causing her fear and alarm, between August 19 and September 3, 2017. He also repeatedly tried to call her, threatened her and sent her messages of a sexual nature.

More, of West Banks Terrace, Wick, will be sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on May 29.

Cleared of rape charge

More was cleared of a third charge of rape. It was earlier reported online that he had been convicted of the charge. This report was based on a Police Scotland press release which contained incorrect information. We apologise for any distress caused.
