Passengers on board a Shetland Ferry have been evacuated after a fire broke out in the engine room.
The inter-ferry service MV Daggri bound for Yell disembarked Toft Pier around 11.20am, just moments before the small fire was detected by the onboard crew.
The blaze was extinguished by crew members as the vessel made a swift return to the mainland.
Upon arrival, dozens of onboard passengers were evacuated off the boat before being taken to a nearby waiting room as emergency service descended on the scene.
Four fire crews arrived at the scene a short time later after the call was initially received around noon, alongside multiple police units.
The service, operated by Shetland Islands Council, is currently suspended as teams work to move the vessel off the pier’s main linkspan.
