Huntly’s Allan Hale on the hunt for consistency

Huntly FC manager Allan Hale.
Allan Hale feels Huntly are moving in the right direction.

Consistency is top of Huntly manager Allan Hale’s agenda.

The Black and Golds welcome Wick Academy to Christie Park on Saturday looking to end a run of five games without a win in the Breedon Highland League.

During that period they have progressed to the semi-final of the Morrison Motors (Turriff) Aberdeenshire Shield.

Huntly’s Allan Hale satisfied but still pushing for consistency

Such is the congested nature of the Highland League a win for either Huntly, who 13th, or the 12th-placed Scorries at weekend could lift them as high as ninth depending on results elsewhere.

Hale has been largely satisfied with the majority of the Strathbogie outfit’s displays this term, but is searching for greater consistency when it comes to results.

‘The league is as competitive as it has ever been’

He said: “The important thing for us is consistency and striving to produce it.

“If you look at how tight the league is I think every manager outwith the top six will say they’re looking for that consistency on a weekly basis to try to put a run of results together to maybe allow you to pull away.

“In my opinion, the league is as competitive as it has ever been from the top of the league right the way down.

“There’s not a lot to separate a lot of teams so it does really come down to who can be consistent over the course of the season and that will determine where teams finish.

“We’ve played well in the majority of games this season but it’s trying to turn those performances into results.

“I’m never one to study the league table at this stage, it’s about where you are at the end of the season.”
