White hopes to get back among goals to help Caley Jags’ form

Caley Thistle forward Jordan White is determined to play his part in maintaining Inverness’ promising run of form over the festive period.

White ended a six-match streak without finding the net when he scored the opener in Saturday’s 2-0 Championship victory over Ayr United at Caledonian Stadium.

The strike took White’s tally to six for the campaign, with the 27-year-old now intent on hitting the goal trail to help the Highlanders build on their three-match winning streak.

White said: “I hadn’t scored in quite a few games. I don’t get myself too down about it, but you do hear fans saying ‘he’s not scoring’ or whatever.

“But I’ve done it all my career. I know I can score goals and I know they will always come when I’m going through a patch like that.

“Strikers will always go through lean spells and then they will go through spells where they are scoring all the time.

“Hopefully this can be the start of a wee purple patch for me. There are other ways I can contribute, it’s a team game at the end of the day and as long as we can get the three points on the board, that’s all that matters.

“We deserved it on Saturday, but now we’ve another big game away to Partick Thistle to contend with.”

White feels he is playing in a side with a spring in its step again, with Caley Jags making a strong return to form after suffering back-to-back 3-0 defeats against Dundee United and Arbroath last month.

White added: “We had the performance at Arbroath which we knew was way below the standards expected.

“Our form did dip, but the boys have reacted really well. There’s a real togetherness about everybody and that showed again today.

“The last couple of winning performances have probably come from the wee bit of confidence we took from beating Dundee up here.

“We need to keep picking up as many points as we can to keep the pressure on Dundee United and take it from there.

“But everybody is working really hard and the rewards are there for everyone to see.”

White is determined to keep up the pace with leaders Dundee United when John Robertson’s men make the trip to Partick Thistle on Saturday, with the 27-year-old adding: “It was a convincing win and wee runs like this, with three league wins in a row, gives everyone massive confidence.

“When it is the other way, and you’re trapped in a poor run of form, you can think about things a bit too much. When a chance comes your way, you can over-think it a wee bit given the extra bit of pressure you’re under.

“It is coming more naturally to us now and we just want to put as many wins on the board as possible now.”
