Blooming good gardens wanted for Aberdeen competition

Aberdeen residents have been invited to show-off their gardening skills in the city council’s annual garden competition.

The event rewards residents and businesses for contributing to the city’s floral displays, which have won many awards in national bloom competitions in recent years.

Each year it attracts around 100 entrants who regularly impress judges with the diversity and quality of the gardens entered.

Councillor John Wheeler said: “Gardens and green spaces are great places to get out in, get some fresh air, and learn about the environment in our beautiful city.

“The event is held not only as a celebration and as a reward for all the unsung work of our residents but it also brings the gardening community together.

“It is a great way to see what can be achieved, no matter how big or small your garden or green space is.”

Residents can enter in the categories of garden displays, other displays, wildlife friendly garden, city allotments and school garden.

Entry forms are available to download from www.aberdeencity.gov.uk or from libraries, community centres and other locations across the city.
