Winds gusting up to 100mph from Storm Otto have brought a day of disruption across Aberdeenshire, Moray and the Highlands.
Strong gales began from about 5am with scaffolding brought down in Aberdeen while buses were blown off the road and petrol stations were damaged in Aberdeenshire.
About 30,000 homes have been hit with power cuts that are expected to last until Sunday.
Meanwhile, the north has been told to brace for more bad weather with a further warning for snow and ice due to come into force overnight between Friday and Saturday.
