Brora Rangers’ Scottish Cup dream ended with a 3-1 third round replay defeat to Championship side Greenock Morton at Dudgeon Park.
Brora put in a brave showing in front of an impressive 497 crowd, however it was Ton who progressed to face St Johnstone away in the next round.
The Cattachs had earned a replay following their fine 1-1 draw at Cappielow last month, however goals from Reece Lyon, Jim McAlister and Nicky Cadden saw David Hopkin’s men triumph on this occasion, with Colin Williamson pulling one back midway through the second half.
Morton took the lead after 19 minutes when Williamson left his header back towards goalkeeper Joe Malin too short, allowing Lyon to nip in and tuck into the empty net.
Brora showed a spirited response but were unable to break down the visitors’ defence, with Morton virtually killing off the tie with two goals inside the opening eight second half minutes.
Morton’s second goal arrived on 49 minutes when Luca Colville threaded a sublime pass through to skipper McAlister, who supplied a composed sidefoot finish past Malin.
David Hopkin’s men made it three just four minutes later, with Colville once again the provider for Cadden to power a strike beyond the reach of Malin.
Williamson pulled a goal back for the hosts on 65 minutes when he turned home from six yards following Bjorn Wagenaar’s corner, but it was too little, too late.
